Tired of your partner complaining about your snoring, waking up feeling unrefreshed or in pain? Myofunctional therapy could be the missing link.

Sometimes the right support can be the missing piece that changes everything!

What Is Myofunctional Therapy?

Myofunctional therapy (also called orofacial myology) retrains the muscles of the tongue, mouth, and face to correct dysfunctional patterns like mouth breathing, tongue thrust, and poor tongue posture. It's commonly used to improve sleep quality and airway function, reduce snoring and jaw pain, and support proper breathing, swallowing, and speech.

Who It's For

Melanie’s Orofacial Myology services are ideal if you or your child are experiencing:

How It Works

Myofunctional therapy works like physical therapy for your mouth. You'll practice targeted exercises for about 10 minutes, three times a day, to retrain muscle function and, over time, even facial structure. Sessions may also include breathing exercises and manual manipulation — slow, non-invasive touch applied to the mouth, face, or body to release tension and support proper function.

Melanie's Approach

Melanie treats myofunctional therapy as one piece of a whole-body, root-cause approach — not an isolated fix. She looks at how oral and facial muscle function connects to nervous system regulation, breathing, and even gut and sleep health, and often integrates it with wellness coaching and herbal support for clients who need more than exercises alone. Sessions are hands-on and personalized, using manual manipulation alongside a structured, sequential program.
Did you know that breathing with the mouth closed produces nitric oxide, which is needed to fight viruses and infections along with other health benefits?  Low production of nitric oxide is associated with many diseases from high blood pressure, heart disease, and more.   Listen to this important message from Melanie where she details what Orofacial Myology is and why it may be the missing link to persistent snoring, jaw grinding, poor sleep, headaches, vagus nerve working properly and more.

What Our Clients Are Saying About Us

Kara

Durham,NC

It's hard for me to believe I've only worked with Melanie for 4 months - she has helped me in so many areas and I am so grateful for her knowledge, compassion, and support. Our sessions primarily focused on orofacial myology, but also included wellness coaching and herbalism. I've noticed I get deeper sleep since I am no longer mouth breathing at night and it may seem weird, but I occasionally would hit my teeth when going to take a drink and that never happens anymore. The exercises and massages that Melanie taught me have helped my jaw and mouth pain as well as improving my breathing. Throughout my sessions, I felt fully seen and heard, and Melanie always went above and beyond. I highly recommend Melanie in all of her healing modalities!

Mary

Durham, NC

Initially I was referred to Melanie by my dentist. She did orofacial myofunctional therapy with me which helped me greatly reduce chronic headaches I was having in part due in part to my tongue tie. I highly recommend her to anyone. She is so knowledgeable about a myriad of issues.
